construction of Soho
Beach House, a 67-unit luxury beachfront hotel/condo
development in Miami Beach. Ryder Properties LLC
engaged the construction management firm for the
83,000-square-foot development, which is the second
U.S. project by hotelier Nick Jones, creator of
Soho House, New York.
The $32 million project includes rehabilitating and
expanding the Art Deco seven-story Sovereign Hotel’s
lobby, private units and exterior spaces, while
adding a new pool, glass atrium, site paving and
landscaping. New hotel features include a complete
spa, restaurant, two outdoor bars, a wine room, and

STEVENS CONSTRUCTION
(Ft. Myers, FL) has begun the
renovation of the
catheterization lab at the Florida Hospital
Heartland Division, announced Mark Stevens, company
president. Designed by Burt Hill/Pollock
Kreig Architects Inc.,
the 11,000-square-foot project includes an upgrade
of the existing cath lab
and the addition of a second lab. The new space will
feature lead-lined doors, windows and walls
providing employees and visitors protection from

existing lab will remain operational during

Skanska
USA Civil(Orlando, FL),
has been awarded a $93 million contract to upgrade
the South District Wastewater Treatment Plant in
Miami-Dade County, Florida. The South District
Wastewater Treatment Plant is undergoing a major
upgrade program. Capacity will be expanded to handle
285 MGD, million gallons per day. Once completed, it
will be one of the largest wastewater treatment
plants in the Southeast of USA.

NU-CAPE
(Cape Coral, FL) Nu-Cape
Construction Company, a division of
Owen-Ames-Kimball Company (OAK), will provide
construction management services for Nova
Southeastern University’s new Fort Myers Student
Educational Center.
The new university operations will
be located in a shell building currently under
construction by Nu-Cape
Construction. Replacing and expanding the Fort Myers
operations, the 60,000-square-foot, four-story
tenant build-out will also house the university’s
health care and allied professionals programs.
The project will include complete
interior construction of classrooms, computer labs,
faculty offices and meeting spaces, student lounges
and reception areas. Additional customization of the
space will include a portion of the classrooms
constructed to mirror acute care and other

AFFINITY ARCHITECTS
(Boca Raton, FL) has been commissioned to design the
first solar-powered home on Cat Cay, Bahamas. Plans
call for the solar energy with backup diesel
generator to provide water and electricity for the

new projects located in the Central Florida area.
The combined contract value of the two projects
exceeds $3 million. The
first project is Saxon Crossings Retail Center,

feet of in-line retail space. The new retail space
can accommodate as many as 18 individual businesses
and the construction cost of the new retail area is
approximately $2.1 million.

(Fort Myers, FL) has reached mid-point construction
of Southwest Florida Addiction Services, a
detox and counseling
center for patients with alcohol and drug
dependency. Southwest Florida Addiction Services is
located at 3763 Evans Avenue in Fort Myers. Westcoast
Structural is providing the concrete floors,
sidewalks, dumpster enclosure and generator
enclosure for the 38,000-square-foot building.

negotiating with Hunt/Moss, a Joint Venture, on a
